About the NYIWC:

The New York International Wine Competition was thrilled with the quality of wine submissions that it received in its 9th year. They were proud to showcase our 1400+ wine submissions from over 24 countries.

What sets the NYIWC apart from other international beverage competitions is their TRADE ONLY blind judging panel, and the wine industry has continued to take notice. At their wine competition held in New York City, the retail store buyer, sommelier, restaurant beverage director, hotelier, distributor and importer are their judges. These judges, whose livelihood rely upon their skill set, truly know what the consumer wants, as they receive on a daily basis the feedback from the consumer of what is good and what will sell.

Maquam wines win in INDY wine competition!

Maquam’s Black Currant and Blueberry & Pure VT Maple Syrup wines both won a silver award in the INDY wine competition! Also our pear wine won a bronze award! With over 1,500 wines entered from all over the world this is quite an accomplishment!

About INDY:

The 28th annual INDY International Wine Competition showcased 1800 total wines at the Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms. Running May 22-23, entries from 14 countries were part of the competition based at the West Lafayette campus.

The Purdue Wine Grape team, made up of faculty and staff from the departments of Food Science and Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, hosted the event with the assistance of 50 Pit Cru members. The Pit Cru volunteers cyclically prepare and serve the wines to the judges and clean a seemingly never ending series of glasses. Many of the Pit Cru members have ties to the world of wine, whether it be as an amateur winemaker or enthusiast. The diverse panel of 48 judges from all across the United States and Canada included distributors, chefs, scientists, winemakers and other professionals.

Awards were presented to winemakers in over 70 categories, competing for Best of Class medals, with additional awards going to the Best of the Best. A live taste-off was broadcast online the evening of the 23rd. The INDY International Wine Competition is the largest independently organized wine competition in the United States.
